Southlake President and CEO Dr. Dave Williams Honoured at Diamond Jubilee Gala
Tuesday, June 19, 2012 (Newmarket – Ontario) – Last night, Southlake Regional Health
Centre President and CEO Dr. Dave Williams joined the Honourable David C. Onley, Lieutenant
Governor of Ontario, and other respected dignitaries at the Diamond Jubilee Gala where he
received a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal for his outstanding contributions to
Canada.
In keeping with the tradition of honouring Her Majesty’s milestone years of service, the
commemorative medal is part of the Canadian Honours System and was created to mark the 60th
anniversary of Her Majesty’s accession to the Throne.
At the Gala, which was held at Roy Thomson Hall, more than 600 medals were presented to
members of the Order of Canada residing in Ontario and members of the Order of Ontario.
Approximately 60,000 medals have been struck for distribution to deserving citizens across
Canada.
This achievement comes on the heels of a another significant accomplishment for Dr. Williams –
last week, he became the first hospital CEO to be inducted into Canada’s Aviation Hall of Fame.
